Last weekend inspired me to share a HUGE "wellbeing" moment that resonated in our lives.

My husband and I had the honor of attending an intimate 50 year anniversary celebration of an adorable and amazing couple that holds a special place in our hearts.  It felt humbling to be at such a triumphant event.

I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when the children (one of them a dear friend) got up to share life learning experiences next to this loving and strong couple; there were cute funny stories and a few emotional glimpses of their lives.

This event MADE me STOP and really think about MARRIAGE, 50 years of MARRIAGE – can you even imagine, visualize and comprehend that amount of time?

That afternoon, as we saw them look at each other’s eyes and smile while dancing, we all became witnesses of a lifelong romance only they understood.

I always get so emotional when I meet couples that have been together for half of their lives (or more).  Take a peek when they think that no one is watching and.... you will become a spectator, as they laugh at an inside joke you absolutely know is ONLY theirs...sigh..

Stop some time and chat with one of these couples - you will be inspired!  I do this every chance I get  ;-)

Out of this event we came up with a word - persistence. If we sprinkle this along the journey of anything we really want, and in this case, a loving life partner, we all might have a chance...

Did you know I was such a romantic fool? Give me a romantic movie or lovestory to read and I will become an emotional kaleidoscope - every time!   Don’t get me started on sentimental mushy TV commercials LOL

I invite you to listen to this short (1:50min) chat of a couple married for more than 60 and years - he has Alzheimer's and they are chating about their marriage…sighclick here and then click on the little side triangle (play button).

ENJOY!

Tanya you're absolutely right! This entry brought REAL tears to my eyes!! I listened to the short sound clip- it was absolutely adorable! And just like you, I am a hopeless romantic and your blog post was a refreshing breath of fresh air from the cynical feeling pessimistic people possess about love and marriage- it's a wonderful feeling! I can't wait until I meet the love of my life and spend the rest of my life with them. Until then, I'll just have to keep gushing over jewelry commercials and continue re-watching The Notebook. :) Love the blog post!!
